What fabrics do you print? At the moment we have two types of cotton - a cotton drill and a cotton calico - but we hope to add more fabrics in the future!

How wide are your fabrics? The cotton drill is 150cm wide and the cotton calico is 145cm wide.

Is there a minimum order? No! You can order as little as 1 metre through the website but if you'd like less than that let us know and we'll see what we can do.

Can you print on Spandex/ Lycra? Sadly not. We can only print on natural fibres.

Can I print on my own fabric? Unfortunately not. Our fabrics come with a special coating which allows them to be printed on. We cannot print on any fabric which does not have this coating.

Can I print my own design? Absolutely! Please send your files (ideally a flattened TIFF) to thefabrichutbb@gmail.com. Make sure to let us know how many metres you'd like printed, and on which fabric. Feel free to include any other information that we may need to know about your specific printing needs.

How much does it cost to print my own design? There is no extra charge for printing your own design!

What if I need help changing the colours or putting the design into repeat? In that case, you may need to pay a design fee. Our design fee is $50 per hour.

Can I get a fabric sample? Maybe, it depends what you’re asking for. If you’d like a sample of raw (unprinted) fabric then yes, those are free and you can come and collect them from our studio.

How about a printed sample? Unfortunately, due to the nature of our printing process we are unable to give out printed samples in most cases. However you are more than welcome to visit us and view our full sample collection. If you are printing your own design and would like a sample, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

What exactly is your printing process? Glad you asked! Our process doesn’t actually stop at the printing stage, although that is the first step. Once your fabric has been printed it goes through a steaming cycle which fixes the dye in place. Then it goes through a thorough cleaning process which removes any excess dye from the fabric before it's finally dried and pressed.

How long does it take? You should expect your fabric to be ready a week from the day you ordered it. However if you need it sooner than that you can pay for a rush order.

How much do you charge for rush orders? $150

What is shrinkage and how can I account for it in my order? Unfortunately, shrinkage is an unavoidable part of the printing process, which occurs during steaming and washing. Fabrics can shrink up to 10% - especially the cotton drill. If you need an exact amount of fabric we advise that you add an additional 10% to the total length of your order to account for this.

What is warping? Similar to shrinkage, warping is a result of the printing process, however, this is something that usually only affects a print which needs to be square e.g. a tea towel or placemat. If you have questions/ concerns about this for your project, please feel free to contact us.
